From one day to the next you’ll find new stuff on the menu — so make sure to come back and see what surprising specialties are ready to delight you for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Carnival Celebration has an excellent gym with a line up of LifeFitness cardio machines (treadmills and ellipticals) that face the sea through full-length windows on port Deck 6. These machines can be programmed for virtual “runs” in a wide range of settings, from the rocky trails of British Columbia to the shores of Maui. There are also weight machines and free weights, as well as a stretching area and a spinning room. Free and for-fee classes are available here at various times of day. Fellow guests told me the gym can get rather crowded during the peak morning hours.

Featuring classic and contemporary Latin music, this production fell short when compared to the great entertainment offerings on other cruise lines. Overall the crew and officers aboard the Carnival Celebration were attentive and upbeat. During this cruise, we had the privilege of meeting the Captain of the ship and his officers, shop managers, and more. Everyone is very passionate and professional about offering guests a unique, safe, and enjoyable vacation experience onboard. On embarkation day, we boarded the new Carnival Celebration at Carnival Cruise Line’s newly remodeled Terminal F at Port Miami.
Pools and Hot Tubs on Carnival Celebration

Here, the Bolt roller coaster, the second in the fleet, zooms over the mini-golf course and around the water park and ship's funnel. A packed basketball course and an elevated ropes course keep the fun going; foosball, ping pong and bean bag toss offer an easier form of competition. The new travel-inspired neighborhood The Gateway on decks 6 and 7 midship is most noticeable for its LED "windows" that display scenes from countries around the world, depending on the evening's theme. The new train station-inspired Latitudes Bar and returning Emeril's Bistro 1397 anchor this area, with the popular pharmacy-themed Alchemy Bar above.

These comfy rooms with a view let you take in the scenery as you sail toward your beautiful destinations. But the views aren’t all that matters here — Ocean View staterooms on Carnival Celebration® are a little bit bigger than Interior rooms and most feature a supremely loungeable couch for those times when neither lying nor standing will do. Carnival Celebration® wouldn’t be complete without a place for you to settle in and recharge after a long day’s fun. The Grand Celebration was sold for scrap in 2020 with her sister ship, MS Holiday, precipitated in part by the COVID-19 pandemic.[1][2] A third sister ship, the MS Jubilee, was last operated by HNA Tourism. Another key evening space was the Lido Beach Pool area, which hosts the Carnival Seaside Theater for movie screenings under the stars or the once per week Evolution Party, a wild, glow stick-wielding bash, hosted by the cruise director. There are actually two main show spaces on Carnival Celebration, Celebration Central and the Grand Spectrum Theater.

Major Differences Between Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line
While we’ve cruised many times on other cruise lines, we hadn’t tried Carnival until this year. Did you enjoy our Carnival Celebration cruise ship scorecard review? Do you have plans to sail on this new Carnival Cruise Line ship? Drop us an anchor below with your latest Carnival cruise reviews.
Construction on Second Chinese-Built Cruise Ship Well Underway
Another bright spot of this Carnival Celebration cruise ship review was the crew and the fantastic service we received throughout the entire week. From the sports deck activities, to Family Feud and Deal or No Deal, to the comedy shows, there was never a dull moment during our sailing. The signature entertainment was fair when compared to other contemporary cruise lines. The productions were certainly not Broadway-caliber shows like NCL or Royal Caribbean. We did like the shows that occurred in Celebration Central more than those in the main theater; though, it’s difficult to find a good viewing spot. While the meals here were better than the main dining room, neither of them were at the caliber of a specialty restaurant on other cruise lines.
Is Carnival Celebration Family Friendly?
Comparing the main dining room service to Royal Carribean, we noticed a few other negatives on the Celebration that didn’t give it the higher end restaurant feel. Royal Caribbean’s largest ships are almost 30% larger than the Celebration but hold the same number of passengers at max capacity. Surprisingly, our balcony felt much larger than the advertised size. It might have been due to our location, as Deck 10 includes additional rail space when compared to the decks above it.
Yet, it doesn’t even compare to specialty venues like Onda on NCL or Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen on Royal Caribbean. Currently, Carnival Cruise Line has broadened the options for complimentary dining on its Excel Class ships. On our sailing, both Chibang and Cucina del Capitano were complimentary. Paul and Reggie seemed to rotate between the Deck 6 Latitudes Bar and Deck 6 Golden Jubilee Bar, as did the Quora String Trio. Other organized activities included Bingo and game shows like Majority Rules, Walk the Plank, and even Flip Cup.
The service and overall experience were very lovely and a great value overall. We've also gotten word that this coaster is currently fully constructed and undergoing test runs on land before being transferred and installed onboard Carnival Celebration. "While similar to Mardi Gras with a plethora of options for dining, entertainment and relaxation, Celebration will have her own personality, one that celebrates all things Carnival, intertwining where we have been with where we are going." Carnival Celebration boasts five swimming pools and five hot tubs. Space Cruisers is a brand-new program offered in partnership with the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Eventually, it’ll roll out to other Carnival ships but, for now, you can only find it here, on Carnival Celebration.
Thankfully, that demeanor changes once you hit Carnival’s for-fee dining options; our meals in Bonsai Sushi and Bonsai Teppanyaki were above reproach in terms of service. Bars, lounges and cabin stewards all seemed personable and friendly, for the most part. But Carnival’s complimentary dining options came with an unwanted side-order of visible hostility. Carnival Celebration also boasts a much-expanded Bonsai Teppanyaki venue just next to Bonsai Sushi.
Celebration's new Grand Celebration zone will be responsible for setting guests' expectations as soon as they step foot onto the ship. Embarkation leads directly into the newly designed atrium space rising from Deck 6 up to Deck 8. Carnival Celebration will be the second vessel in the line's Excel class of ships, preceded by Mardi Gras which in 2021. But don't expect this new ship to be a carbon copy of its sibling. The program is designed for those ages 2 to 11 and includes space-themed activities and fun STEM projects to add a little educational flair and fun to their cruising experience. You do, of course, have your standard kids’ venues aboard Carnival Celebration, which you’ve probably already been familiar with if your family has cruised on a Carnival ship in the past.
Carnival Celebration is an Excellence-class cruise ship, preceded by sister ship Mardi Gras, which debuted in the summer of 2021. A future Carnival Excellence-class ship is scheduled for 2023, Carnival Jubilee. This large ship ranks as the 11th largest in the world, with a gross tonnage of 183,521 GT and a length of 1,130 feet. There are 19 total decks and more than 2,600 staterooms, which can hold more than 5,000 passengers at double occupancy and up to 6,500 passengers at maximum capacity.
So if you're on an early sailing, my advice is to dine early or request tables half an hour to an hour before you want to eat. If you like to try out different restaurants for dinner, choose the flexible dining option so you get earlier access to Chibang! The area takes the place of the RedFrog Pub, a venue I've loved on other Carnival ships. The decor here is a little darker, but the expanded size and proximity to a pool, hot tubs and outdoor seating are a definite plus. As a professional traveler, it's not a huge surprise that one of my favorite public areas on the ship is the travel-themed The Gateway. The Latitudes Bar called my name with its seatbacks decorated with faux passport stamps and split-flap departure board signage.
